DESCRIPTION: This a record of agreement between the State of Utah and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission by which the state assumes a portion of the commission's regulatory authority. This agreement is authorized under section 274 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954.

This record include correspondence between the bureau and other states and the NRC, copies of the agreement between Utah and the NRC, guideline material and criteria for agreement states from the NRC, implementation plans; copies of implementation plans from other states, copies of statistical reports from other states, and copies of federal and state legislation on radiation control.

A copy of the agreement and of the plans devised to implement the agreement have long term value and should be retained permanently. The agreement should be retained in office for as long it is in effect and unchanged. The implementation plans should be retained in office until the plan is put into effect; specific retentions cannot be established for the agreements or the implementation plans. Other material in this file is used for guidance and reference by the bureau in creating and administering this program; retention cannot be established for this material because some material will have a very short value.
