This retention is based on the research value of these records and the information they provide concerning the air quality issues facing Utah. Facilities receiving permits from the states to release emissions are required by 40 CFR 70.6(a)(3)(ii)(B) to retain the monitoring records for 5 years, but the historical value of these records demands their permanent retention in the State Archives.
