DESCRIPTION: The central register is a statewide register for child abuse and neglect reports. The register is utilized to collect and organize data on child abuse and neglect in order for staff to have better idea on which to understand the problem, plan and evaluate programs, allocate staffing, provide information to aid investigations and treatment, and to disseminate information to the media and general public. The annual reports compare the scope of the problem from one year to the next and identify trends that may be occurring. These records also include information about the Automated Information Management System (SAFE) including contractors that developed the system, weekly time sheets, and specifications about entering data into the system.
