DESCRIPTION: These are copies of performance and financial audits conducted by the State Auditor's office and Attorney General's opinions on specific legal questions. These reports include the date of the audit, and the findings of the audit. The opinions include the dates the opinion was requested and given, the name of the employee writing the opinion and the issues at question.

FORMAT MANAGEMENT
Paper: Retain in Office for 2 years and then transfer to State Records Center. Retain in State Records Center for 3 years and then destroy.

These are copies of reports that should be kept in the originating offices. For this reason, they only need to be kept by the division for as long as they have administrative value. Within 5 years, all findings of an audit report should be implemented.ķAudit reports may be used during the next audit cycle to monitor compliance with internal control program recommendations. They document agency functions and have research value.
