DESCRIPTION: This series contains contracts, contract amendments, related correspondence, and other related documents for special projects with funding flowing through the Division of Community Development. The records are maintained in order to document the flow of appropriated funds to non-state organizations. These funds flow through the Department of Community and Economic Development due to a constitutional prohibition on directly appropriating funds to any entity which is not a state agency. (Included here, for example, is funding for Hogle Zoo and Willow Park Zoo.) The special contracts indicate the amount of contract, purpose for expenditure, duration of contract, signatures of authorized parties, and related information.
