TITLE: Utah's automated system for managing and reporting contributions to the social security administration

DESCRIPTION: This system is used to track, compute, and report each political subdivision's contributions and wages paid during a pay period to the Social Security Administration. The contribution totals are recorded and deposited daily with the State Treasurer. Wage totals are used as a barometer to verify that the correct amount has been contributed. The system alerts the operator if an overage or shortage has occurred. Twice a month, a deposit is wired to the administration in Baltimore. System is on WANG VS. The software is an in-house developed package that uses sequential files. This record includes reported wages, FICA due, SSA employer identification number, date received, reporting period, check number, agency's remittance, account adjustments, and interest due on late payments.
